The Epidemic of Gun Violence Claims More Lives

Our country is yet again facing the aftermath and horror of not just one, but two, fatal shootings in the past week. On April 27, 2019, a gunman opened fire at the Chabad of Poway synagogue in California, leaving one dead and three injured. On April 30, 2019, a gunman opened fire at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte, leaving two students dead and four injured, three of whom are in critical condition. When will enough be enough?!

Our children and our citizens face gun violence at epidemic rates in the United States. It is time for our elected officials to stop the cycle of platitudes and inaction after these devastating events – it is time for action. This type of violence is preventable and we cannot accept these acts of violence as routine within America. It is time for change and it is time for reform. NPEIV calls upon Congress to stop ignoring the epidemic of gun violence in America and enact meaningful reforms to protect our children, our communities and all Americans.

The National Partnership to End Interpersonal Violence (NPEIV) is an overarching group of individuals, organizations, agencies, coalitions, and groups that embrace a national, multi-disciplinary and multicultural commitment to violence prevention across the lifespan. It is our mission to make the prevention of interpersonal violence a national and international priority and to encourage healthy relationships by linking science, practice, policy and advocacy.

Through our many partnerships and collaborations, it is our vision to end all types of interpersonal violence, for all people, in all communities, at all stages of life. For more information, please visit www.npeiv.org
