Yoga and Health: Integrating Yoga Practice into Daily Life
The word “yoga” is best translated as “integration.” The literal translation means to “yoke,” which means “to unite, to become whole.” In the context of yoga, this means to unite the body, mind and spirit. Yoga is not a religion, but is compatible with any religious faith. Benefits of yoga include: improved flexibility, increased blood flow, improved posture, improved bone health, increased muscular strength, drainage of the lymph system and boosted immunity, improved concentration and focus, improved balance, calming the nervous system, and reduction of stress.
Yoga is a journey of transformation. The daily practice of yoga makes one's body strong and flexible, boosts immunity, and provides assistance with stress reduction and self-regulation of emotions. It also improves the functioning of circulatory, respiratory, digestive, and hormonal structures. Yoga also brings emotional stability and clarity of mind. The National Partnership to End Interpersonal Violence Across the Lifespan (NPEIV) invites you to join us for a training that will focus on the health and mental health benefits of a regular yoga practice, “Yoga and Health: Integrating Yoga Practice into Daily Life?”. It will provide general information about what yoga is and is not, how yoga practice can be integrated into daily life, and how to get started on your own yoga journey. Presented by Glenna Tinney, MSW, RYT200.
